TYT is lucky and excited to have the incredible Alan Kinsella joining us for this project. His decades-long international career in both stage and screen makes him the perfect candidate for these courses. Our full-time technical support staff from Storytime with Santa has setup the Annex Theatre for an incredible experience unlike any other.

Class Requirements:

  • We ask that a parent or caregiver is nearby, in the event a student requires technical support.

  • Below are some technical requirements needed for the best success of each child:

    • A stationary camera and screen, such as a computer, laptop, iPad or tablet.

    • A stable internet connection that allows for extended video calls.

    • PLEASE NOTE: Cell phones should not be used to participate in class.

    • A microphone, which could be a headset or part of the computer.

    • Access to the video meeting app ZOOM

  • An adequate space that allows for freedom of movement


Mini Movie Magic

Through group games and activities, children will learn to explore their own creative imagination while developing essential skills both for life and theatre. The course develops an original performance piece that will be broadcast to parents at the end of the 6 weeks.  (60 minutes/wk).

This in-depth class provides a deeper and more explorative opportunity for children looking to expand their acting skills. Through improvisation and character work, this program culminates to an original broadcast performance at the end of the 6 weeks. (60 minutes/wk).




Alan is an internationally renowned Acting Teacher, Mentor and Director. Alan began his career as an actor and his debut was at the Abbey Theatre (The National Theatre of Ireland). He went on to direct over one hundred productions in Ireland. In 2009 Alan directed his first off Broadway show Lunch. In 2013 he moved to Canada and his Toronto debut was The Woman in Black at The Lower Ossington Theatre. His production of Mary Poppins won the Broadway World award for Best Musical in 2015. He has also directed for the Watermark Theatre in P.E.I. Alan has written many family shows that have toured China, Jamaica, Qatar, Singapore, Oman, Sharjah and Turks and Caicos. In 2017 he directed productions of Aladdin and Fame at the Madinat Theatre Dubai. Alan has worked with Toronto Youth Theatre for many years nurturing up and coming talent. He has taught in numerous schools and colleges, notable Bull Alley Theatre Training Company, Liberties College in Dublin and Ovation Performing Arts Academy in Richmond Hill. Alan has been on the judging panel and served as a mentor for various performing arts competitions and awards including The All Ireland Variety Show and in Canada the Nova Star Awards and Markham Creates. Alan is Artistic Director of the Markham Theatre Discovery Camp Program.
