A Musical Called Robin Hood

Jeremy Hutton is a Toronto based actor, director and composer and has been the Co-Artistic Director of the Toronto Youth Theatre since its inception. With the Toronto Youth Theatre Jeremy has directed Richard O'brian's The Rocky Horror Show, Jesus Christ Superstar, Urinetown, The Musical, A Midsummer Night's Dream, City of Angels and the new musical A Musical Called Robin Hood.

Other Directing Credits: Romeo and Juliet, and Othello (Hart House Theatre), Robin Hood (Shakespeare by the Sea) Anthony and Cleopatra (Canopy Theatre Co.) and The Merchant of Venice (Trinity College).

Jeremy's original compositions have recently been heard in Hamlet, Othello and Romeo and Juliet(Hart House Theatre), Robin Hood and Merchant of Venice (Shakespeare by the Sea), Twelfth Night (Classical Theatre Project) and A Night Out With Ives (Talking Camel). Jeremy has a Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Toronto.

Michael Wheeler

Mike is the manager of the Queen West Arts centre and our head of Education for the Summer Program. Michael is a founding member and Co –Artistic Director of Praxis Theatre. With Praxis he has directed original adaptations of Eugene Onegin and The Master and Margarita, and two new works: Steel and Checkpoint both by playwright Andrew Zadel. As an actor Michael has performed in Toronto (Luminata), Montreal (Moyse Theatre), Boston (American Repertory Theatre), New York (Ontological Theatre), Italy (Forli Theatre), and Moscow (Moscow Art Theatre). Michael continues to work with Dora nominated Classical Theatre Project as an Educational Facilitator Michael holds a B.A. (distinction) from McGill University, a certificate from Harvard University, and a M.F.A. from The Moscow Art Theatre.

Kieren MacMillan

Kieren has been Music Director for many productions throughout Ontario, including "Singin' in the Rain" and "My Fair Lady" for Etobicoke Musical Productions, and "Nunsense" at Gypsy Theatre. Kieren garnered critical praise for the world premiere of his chamber opera, "Drunken Moon" (Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, June/July 2006). Kieren was the Music Director for the Toronto Youth Theatre Productions of Cabaret and City of Angels.

Ashleigh Powell

Dance Teacher

Ashleigh is the Choreographer and Dance instructor for our summer program. Ashleigh is an accomplished dancer, teacher and choreographer. She began her training in Ottawa, working with the Kanata Ballet School and in the Canterbury High School Dance Program.
Ashleigh is currently a student in the Teacher's Training program at Canada’s National Ballet School, where she works as an assistant and substitute teacher for the Full-Time and Junior Associates programs. A member of the Royal Academy of Dancing and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, Ashleigh has trained in the R.A.D., Cecchetti and Vaganova syllabus. This summer she will be choreographing the Hart House Theatre production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

Autumn Smith
Director - Oh What A Lovely War
Instructor - 2 Week summer acting intensive

Autumn Smith has extensive experience working with youth in the theatre and has taught masterclasses for The Stratford Shakespeare Festival of Canada’s Shakespeare School, Equity Showcase Theatre (where she introduced a summer program for youth in the community), Tarragon's youth outreach program, the Toronto District School Board/Performing Arts Division, and the Durham District School Board as a visiting artist. She has also spent four seasons directing and teaching at Stagedoor Manor, an international training centre for the young and gifted (NY State). In addition to her work with youth, Autumn is the Artistic Director of MacKenzieRo: a Toronto based company committed to producing new and established works from Ireland. She also coordinates and directs Theatre for Young People at StageWest Mississauga. Autumn is a graduate of the Oxford School of Drama Conservatory Program.
