SYNOPSIS
It is 12th century England. King Richard has been captured
and the country is suffering under the tyrannical rule of
his idiot brother Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Robin of Locksley, a dashing and clever archer, returns
from the crusades to find that Prince John has appropriated
his castle, and taxed the peasantry into poverty. Robin
goes to Sherwood Forest where he joins a band of merry outlaws,
led by Willow Scarlet. He convinces the merry men to take
the money they steal from the rich and… Well, you
know the rest. At first familiar, our story takes wild turns
down a path of chaos and comedy. Goons, gunpowder dogs,
and chipmunk ballerinas converge in a world where logic
and reason are undermined by ludicrously evil plots. Full
of deception, love, betrayal and kittens, Robin Hood is
a riotous romp through the musical world of Sherwood Forest.

CREATIVE ENSEMBLE
presents
GANGSTER
an original play
Using a fictional tale
of a 1930s, Al Capone-style gangster, the cast will work
collaboratively with director Michael Wheeler to create
a new piece of theatre that explores how a .determined and
manipulative individual can use fear and money take over
an urban centre. A collaborative production inspired by
Brecht’s The Resistible Rise of Urturo Ui, Gangster
is inhabited by a multitude of figures that make up a city
from bankers and grocers, to policemen and criminals. This
ensemble based production will challenge the entire cast
to play multiple roles working to create a metropolis thrown
into chaos.
In the TYT Creative Ensemble,
students will Create a NEW, orignal, non-musical
play with professional director Michael
Wheeler. Rehearsals will be geared toward a
high caliber production and will use tools
such as improvisation, physical theatre, storytelling, script
analysis and character development to create this original
production. This new work will be performed for a week at
the Lower Ossington Theatre.
