Basic Dance for Actors
ages 13 and up

Class Description
End the terror! Dance is fun!
This is not a class for dancers. This is a class for actors who need to develop a basic skill set in a variety of dances that may come up over the course of their career. This class is great for musical theatre actors who need to improve their basic vocabulary and for all actors looking for more confidence in their dance when it comes up at auditions and rehearsals.

The syllabus for this class includes basic ballet, jazz, ballroom, folk and period dancing. You're confident in your acting - now become comfortable with the dreaded dance!

At the end of the program there will be a small presentation of the work accomplished for an invited audience of friends and family!

TIMES AND LOCATION

Classes will be three hours, once a week during the months of October and November. Specific time and date TBA

FEES

The fees for each TYT class are due within two weeks of registration. Fees must be paid by the first class. There are no refunds after the first class

Instructor - Ashleigh Powell
Ashleigh has been a resident choreographer and dance instructor at the Toronto Youth Theatre since its inception in 2005. She began her training in Ottawa, working with the Kanata Ballet School and in the Canterbury High School Dance Program.
Ashleigh is currently a student in the Teacher's Training program at Canada’s National Ballet School, where she works as an assistant and substitute teacher for the Full-Time and Junior Associates programs. A member of the Royal Academy of Dancing and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, Ashleigh has trained in the R.A.D., Cecchetti and Vaganova syllabus. This summer she will be choreographing the TYT's production of A Musical Called Robin Hood and Canopy Theatre Company's production of As You Like It.
