Tips for auditioning!
1.
Make sure you arrive at least 20 minutes early. Bring a
book and a bottle of water.
2.
The audition begins the moment you walk in the door and
assume it’s still going on until you’re at home.
3.
Always appear cheerful in waiting rooms. This is your time
to put yourself in the best possible mood. Never ever say
anything bad about anyone or anything in the waiting room
– someone will hear you.
4.
Make sure the piece you prepare shows you off. The biggest
thing is to have a great attitude and to be yourself. The
panel wants to see you succeed!
5.
Prepare the piece thoroughly. In the audition there is a
good chance you will be asked to alter your interpretation
of it or ‘play’ with it'.
6.
Don’t punish yourself or apologize for being nervous.
Everybody is nervous at auditions. Think of it as a good
thing (it means you care – that’s how directors
perceive it!), accept it as a fact of auditions and move
on.
7.
Say hello to everyone in the audition room once you enter.
Enter with confidence and a big smile. Pretend that auditioning
is your favourite thing to do in the world.
8.
If the panel stops you after two lines or before you finish
your song, don’t take it personally. Go with it and
apply whatever adjustments are thrown at you, no matter
how ridiculous the changes may seem.
9.
When it’s all said and done, take a deep breath and
thank everyone in the room with a big smile.
10.
Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.
